The very late Remington built guns have no rib markings and are engraved only 'Parker' on the bottom of the receiver. Remington/DuPont bought the shotgun business but did not buy the 'Parker Bros.' name.

The recessed hinge pins. I have never seen them on any other gun?

The recessed hinge pins are present on many makes of shotgun. Look for some evidence of Parker Brothers marking or Remington, Ilion, New York. Give us a serial number and we'll tell you what markings you should expect to find.

Can you direct me to a picture online of a doublegun, other than a Parker, with recessed hinge pins? Thank you.

The Fox collectors website should have some pictures of Philadelphia Arms Company guns which have recessed hinge pins as well as pictures of early Fox Sterlingworth guns, some of which have recessed hinge pins. That would be two examples.

The N.R. Davis sidelever hammer guns have a recess on the right side, but not the left -- http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt .. =161355546 The Fox Gun Co., Balto., MD., U.S.A. have recessed hinge pins -- As did Ansley's next gun from Philadelphia Arms Co. -- Here is an early The Sterlingworth Co. gun with the recessed hinge pin -- I addition some of the J. Stevens Arms & Tool Co. doubles had a recessed hinge pin as did some of the early Lefevers.

Thank you for posting the pictures Reseacher! I had never noticed the pins on those other popular shotgun models. Perhaps our friend can compare his gun to the pictures and if he finds it does not match any of those pictured and his has recessed pins, he may still have a Parker, unless you have pictures of Parkers without recessed pins and his doesn't either? His serial number may yield some information about the guns manufacture, unless it is LIKE a Parker serial number (a series of digits), but the gun is not a Parker? Do you think Parker made guns without the Parker name on them? Perhaps he has a Barker? I can't remember if the guns sold under the Barker name had recessed pins or not? Perhaps his gun has the Parker name on it, but he doesn't believe it is a Parker still? If this is the case and the name 'Parker' is on the gun and it has recessed pins, I would bet it stands a good chance of being a Parker.

Parker Hale Serial Number Lookup
Hi All, I'm afraid this is my first post and it's a request for help. I've just got my first rifle, a Parker Hale 22.250 and I'm trying to find out about it. It must be about my age but has clearly had an easier life as it's in far better shape than I am. From what I've found on the web it looks like a 1200 but it has a solid recoil pad and it doesn't have the fastener, screw/bolt head that most of the ones I've seen have on their woodwork below the action/chamber. I believe that if you remove the stock there are markings on the barrel which will give its age but I don't really want to do this, is there a list of serial numbers anywhere which will help identify it? The serial number is P-30604 Also, although with the bolt forward it locks up nice and tight but when the bolt is brought to the rear there seems to be a fair bit of movement, ie while holding it the rear seems to be fairly free to move up and down, side to side. Is this normal? The last time a fired a bolt action rifle it was as a 15 year old cadet firing a Lee Enfield .303 and that was many years ago. Many thanks, Jim [IMG][/IMG]
